Classification TitleElections & Registration Assistant (Seasonal)
Purpose of ClassificationThe purpose of this classification is to maintain a complete and accurate record of all eligible voters in the County with each person voting in the correct precinct and for their correct representative, and to hold absentee balloting prior to all elections.
Essential Functions- Prepare administrative election forms and supplies for distribution to advance and polling facilities locations.
- Duplicate existing forms, monitor established reorder quantities, and maintain inventory balances.
- Perform routine administrative election/registration duties, including filing, answering telephones, greeting and distributing supplies, and transmitting documents to the department.
- Assemble training packets and materials for poll official training classes based on attendance rosters and issue guidelines, and package training equipment, supplies, and audio‑visual aid equipment for delivery to training venues.
- Install and uninstall election equipment used in training classes; perform technical inspections, servicing, logic and accuracy testing on DRE and ancillary election equipment.
- Perform election equipment testing and troubleshooting during pre‑election and Election Day logistics support, restoring equipment to full serviceability as required.
- Recruit and manage Election Day poll workers, create poll worker files, and reconcile monetary quantities associated with poll worker payroll.
- Handle pre‑election, Election Day, and associated tasks including recovery operations intake, distribution, inventory, and restocking of election forms and supplies.
- Organize and assemble election documents for retention by the Office of the Secretary of State, Clerk of Superior Court, and the Superintendent of Elections.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent preferred; and three (3) years of elections administrative, warehouse, or supply‑related experience; or a year‑for‑year interchange of related education and experience equal to the minimum qualifications.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to work extended hours and weekends with short notice.
Position requires ability to multi‑task, working knowledge of the Elections process, telephone etiquette, organizational skills, and customer service procedures.
Physical AbilitiesTasks require the ability to lift 60 pounds unassisted and travel within the county.
