Position SummaryPerforms a variety of responsible technical duties associated with the set‑up, operation and maintenance of the Professional Arts Center (PAC) theater's light, sound, and rigging equipment; provides technical advice and assistance regarding the use of this equipment; directs the work of technical, part‑time theater staff; performs related work as required. Acts as a liaison with internal and external contacts within the District.
This position reports to the Director of the Performing Arts Center.
- Supervises all events scheduled for the Performing Arts Center.
- Designs and produces sound system needs appropriate for events.
- Designs and produces lighting needs appropriate for events.
- Advises clients in use of building.
- Advises clients in staging of various events.
- Advises supervisors regarding the purchase of appropriate lighting, audio and rigging equipment.
- Supervises students assigned to duties for given events.
- Works with all stage equipment to assure good working order at all times.
- Organizes all technical equipment for inventory on a regular basis.
- Assists in preventive maintenance plan for theater equipment.
- Supervises load-in or load-out events.
- Helps to organize and maintain inventory in scene shop.
- Responsible for technical direction of summer theater productions sponsored by the Performing Arts Center.
- All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.
Job Requirements
- High School diploma or GED certificate required. Associate’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 2‑3 years successful experience in the technical theater arena.
- Significant experience placement/operation of lighting, sound and rigging equipment for stage productions, maintenance and repair of said equipment. Makes decisions which affect internal operations of the department as well as the operations of the schools and the District.
- Light independent judgment is necessary. Decisions made on an as‑needed basis to establish operation of the office.
- Requires regular contact with internal personnel within department. Verbal, written, and interpersonal skills required.

- Applies, recommends and implements technology knowledge concepts to improve the effectiveness of the Department.
- Normal theater setting.
- May be required to work a flexible schedule to include late evening and weekend duties.
This is a grade 19, 225 day position that pays for experience up to a step 4.
