Special Education Teacher - Interrelated Language Arts

Provide special education services in a language arts classroom to students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Develop or modify curricula and prepare lessons and other instructional materials to student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, departmental, or itinerant capacity as assigned.

• Participate in IEP conferences including behavior management plans, functional analysis of behavior, placement, and annual reviews.
• Develop strategies for maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and employ a variety of instructional techniques suitable to students’ maturity, interests, and needs.
• Provide appropriate diagnostic testing, identify student capabilities, and monitor student progress on a regular basis.
• Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, CCPS, and GaDOE policies.
• Communicate with parents on an individual or small group basis.
• Consult with appropriate professional staff regarding a student’s educational program.

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• A minimum of one (1) year's teaching experience is preferred.

Special Education General Curriculum & English (6-12) or Language Arts (4-8) (depending upon grade level assignment)

• English or Language Arts (at appropriate grade level based upon location)
• English 6-12 for high school
• English (ELA 4-8 for middle school; not applicable for high school certification)
• Special Education General Curriculum (P-12)

FULL TIME
