Certified Peer Specialist - Addictive Disease (CPS-AD)

Forest Park, GA

Clayton County Court Administration (Drug Court)

Clayton County Drug Court Coordinator

Contract - up to 30 hours per week - grant funded, non-benefit. Flexible Schedule. ($35,038)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assisting with the operation of the Drug Court and working with current clients on navigating dependency cases, the Drug Court program, and their recovery.

Attend weekly court staffing and court hearings

Support clients in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness

Assist clients in identifying barriers to improving their quality of life

Support clients in creating a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)

Meet with client weekly to address individual needs

Support clients in overcoming job-related anxiety

Support clients in obtaining decent and affordable housing of his or her own choice in the most integrated, independent, and least intrusive or restrictive environment

Performs other related duties as assigned

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Word, Excel, PPT)

Knowledge of Substance Use Treatment principles

Knowledge of local recovery resources

Knowledge and ability to facilitate weekly peer to peer recovery support groups

Writing skills to produce clear, concise recovery reports

Knowledge of the practices of community service

Understand the difference in treatment goals and recovery goals

Skill in organization and networking

Skill in problem solving and decision making

Computer skills to utilize email, word processing and records-management software

Skill in oral and written communication

Observational skills to interpret demeanor and spot signs of distress or crisis

Ability to maintain clear professional boundaries with clients and community members

Educational and Training Requirements

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, associated with the completion of the Adult Drug Court. Preference will be given to a former drug court graduate.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of sobriety. No longer on probation/parole.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The work is typically performed in an office, library, or computer room.

Primarily office-related work conditions

The ability to lift/carry twenty (20) lbs. of equipment and materials which may include (without limitation) paper, other materials, and other equipment

Finger dexterity and agility, the ability to see and talk

Mental Acuity - ability to make rational decisions through sound logic, deductive reasoning.

Speaking - expressing ideas with spoken word, convey detailed, important instructions accurately, concisely

Standing - for sustained periods of time

Talking - expressing ideas by spoken word

Visual Acuity - prepare, analyze data, transcribing, computer terminal, extensive reading
