Position: Administrative Field Intern (Emergency Management)

This position will be filled at a salary no higher than the posted maximum salary.

This job announcement is to fill multiple positions across the state at various district locations.

Why You’ll Love This Position

The administrative field intern (emergency management) provides entry level implementation of the department's emergency management programs, assists with emergency communications and radio systems, and supports disaster recovery. Duties are performed under direct supervision.

What You’ll Do
  • Implements activities related to the department's emergency preparedness, prevention, mitigation, response, and recovery planning.
  • Assists with Central Office Emergency Operations Center (MoDOT EOC) including standard operating procedures, training, and coordination among incident management personnel.
  • Monitors transportation and infrastructure emergency management issues, including security, medical, and weather-related issues.
  • Ensures communications systems, equipment, and processes are maintained.
  • Assists with monthly emergency communications testing, including radio systems and satellite communications; corrects issues identified during testing and development of monthly summaries and maintenance of standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

All you need for success:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant bachelor’s or post-bachelor’s degree program full-time (12+ credit hours).
  • 30 credit hours completed/accepted toward current degree program. High school or other postsecondary program credits must be shown to be accepted by the current program through a degree transcript to apply.
  • Possess and maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent.
Special Working Conditions
  • Job requires occasional, statewide, overnight travel.
  • Job requires exposure to physical hazards, health and safety risks, and/or adverse or otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment.
