Position: Behavior Interventionist – Special Education
Location: Irving Elementary, Joplin, Missouri

Assist in a special education classroom focused on Communication, Behavior, and Social Skills (CBSS). Work with students who have significant behaviors or autism, support classroom teachers, behavior consultants, and behavior technicians, collaborate on student goals and behavior intervention plans, implement daily schedules, collect program data, and participate in professional development. Candidates should be able to work one‑to‑one with a student or assist in small groups, care for personal needs of students—including nonverbal and students requiring assistance with hygiene and mobility—and be willing to learn Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with students with autism and positive behavior support.

- Arrives to work and leaves work at the time specified by supervisors and attends all required meetings.
- Maintains accurate records and filing systems for accountability and audit purposes as required by law and policy.
- Solves practical problems using math functions as needed to complete job duties.
- Reads and interprets documents such as work orders, safety rules, and handbooks, and applies them to job duties.
- Curriculum support for students.
- Behavior modification techniques.
- Creating individualized learning materials.
- Supporting students through assigned tasks.
- Reading aloud to individual or small groups of students.
- Assisting with lifting or transferring students.
- Assisting with personal hygiene, including diapering and toilet training.
- Documentation and record keeping.
- Maintaining logs and journals.
- Assisting students with motor or mobility limitations.
- Maintaining classroom structure.
- Following classroom activities and lessons as set by the teacher.
- Snack preparation and clean‑up.
- Following other directions in implementing student plans as directed by the teacher.
- Carrying out all other duties as assigned.
- Occasionally lifts 50 pounds.
- Frequently walks up and down stairs while assisting students.
- Frequently walks on a variety of ground surfaces, including paved, gravel, grass, or dirt.
- Frequently bends and twists the torso and neck.
- Frequently squats or kneels to the ground.
- Frequently uses repetitive arm, wrist, and hand movements.
- Uses close, distance, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception.
Regular and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position.
