Job Description:

Provides technical library support as it relates to librarycatalogs, databases, and indexes and by answering questionsthatrequire basic library science knowledge and consultation. Provides professional library services to students, faculty and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Ensures library customers are helped promptly and courteously
  • Promotes a courteous environment, informed access and independent learning
  • Assists with maintaining library displays
  • Organizes and maintains library materials and equipment
  • Provides high quality customer service
  • Coordinates and or assists with loan lending/barrowingactivities
  • Provides reference services (i.e., answers reference questions and locates requested information, trains/assists students and faculty in locating/using print/electronic sources, performson-line and internet searches as requested, assists with searchstrategies
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including filling in tocover other staff duties during absences.
  • Represent department and the University favorably and in accordance with established Core Values and expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed to meet the goalsand objectives of the organization
  • Other administrative tasks (i.e., filing, preparingdocumentation)
  • Participate in developing department goals, objectives, and systems
  • Actively participate in team and University meetings
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge obtained through Associate's degree or equivalent work experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • One year library experience working in an automated librarycustomer service environment. Medical library experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of managing and navigatingdatabases
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, be detail-oriented,and a self-starter
  • Exercise good judgment and discretion at all times
  • Ability to be flexible, and able to shift priorities as demandschange
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to interact effectively and work efficiently with people at all levels in an organization
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
