Electrical Engineering Technician
As a Electrical Engineering Technician, you'll provide technical expertise and hands-on support for manufacturing operations, systems, and processes at the Amcor Joplin, MO facility. This role plays a key part in improving safety, reducing downtime, enhancing equipment performance, and executing assigned projects. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, coordinating repairs, supporting installations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnvironmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
- Uphold all facility EHS policies and procedures while proactively identifying and implementing opportunities to strengthen overall EHS performance.
- Ensure strict adherence to Electrical Safety and Lockout/Tagout requirements.
Manufacturing & Technical Support
- Assess customer and plant needs by identifying issues, defining project scope, and developing effective technical solutions.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and process-related equipment to ensure rapid and reliable recovery.
- Conduct research and prepare cost estimates for scheduled and emergency repairs, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to minimize downtime.
- Recommend and implement equipment modifications to improve productivity, quality, and waste reduction.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Create, update, and maintain standard work procedures and corrective-action documentation using MP2 and other systems.
- Track and record labor, cost, and troubleshooting history to drive continuous improvement.
- Maintain standard operating conditions to ensure consistent equipment performance.
Training & Leadership
- Train, mentor, and support colleagues on proper equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Develop new or revised standard work, TPM schedules, and training materials aligned with equipment changes.
- Serve as a daily Change Agent by fostering strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
Project Execution
- Develop engineering packages for assigned projects, including drawings, calculations, schematics, manuals, and layouts.
- Partner with purchasing to source project materials, evaluate vendor options, negotiate pricing when applicable, and expedite delivery.
- Coordinate installation, checkout, startup, and training activities.
- Complete all project documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
Facility Support
- Provide leadership and support during plant Clean & Check events and assist with facility maintenance issues to help maintain production continuity.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field — or an equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
- 7+ years of experience troubleshooting equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Availability to work a 3-2-2-3, 12-hour rotating day shift schedule with on-call responsibility every other month.
- Continued learning through trade journals, trade shows, technical seminars, and supplier relationships.
- Extensive experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment in an electrical support capacity.
- Solid interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with suppliers, contractors, and internal partners.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and time-management abilities to manage daily tasks alongside multiple ongoing projects.
- Proficiency with computer systems, networked environments, PLC applications, Microsoft Office, and CAD software.
- Solid understanding of flexible packaging manufacturing processes including flexographic printing, rotogravure, extrusion, adhesive laminating, and slitting.
- Proven knowledge of process support equipment such as PLCs, AC/DC drives, chillers, air compressors, catalytic oxidizers, burner/oven controls, electrical distribution systems, MCCs, and solvent reclaim systems.
- Ability to work various hours as needed to support projects, breakdowns, absences, or emergencies.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods in a production environment.
- Exposure to varying noise levels, temperature changes, and odors associated with manufacturing.
- Frequent use of computer equipment requiring manual dexterity.
- Occasional travel of less than 10%.
