Great Plains Federal Credit Union is on a mission to modernize — and we don’t mean a couple of system patches and a new login screen. We’re taking a very manual, legacy-heavy environment and transforming it into a secure, efficient, modern technology ecosystem that supports growth, innovation, and exceptional member service. This is a full-scale evolution, and we need the right leader to drive it.

The Vice President of Information Technology serves as the strategic architect and driver of the credit union’s technology modernization. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving on the executive leadership team, this leader plays a key role in shaping organizational strategy through technology. Leveraging the Jack Henry Symitar core platform, the VP will guide infrastructure evolution, expand automation, advance digital capabilities, and strengthen cybersecurity to ensure secure, efficient, and future-ready technology operations that support both member experience and long-term organizational growth.

This role operates at three levels at once:

Strategic – Build and execute a multi-year IT roadmap aligned with business goals

Operational – Manage budgets, vendors, compliance, projects, and daily IT performance

Technical – Roll up your sleeves when needed on systems, infrastructure, core optimization, and troubleshooting

In other words, you are as comfortable in the boardroom as you are solving a real technical problem.

You’ll inherit a lean environment and build a strong, high-performing, right-sized IT team. That means developing people, creating structure, improving processes, and building a culture of accountability and service. This is about capability, not just headcount.

Budgets matter. You’ll balance modernization with financial discipline, manage vendors carefully, and prioritize initiatives that deliver real impact.

Hands-on experience with Jack Henry Symitar core system (Strongly Preferred). Working knowledge of Meridian Link is a plus.

IT leadership experience in a financial institution or regulated environment

Background in infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital systems, and modernization efforts

Proven ability to lead transformation while staying close to execution

Strong communicator who builds trust across leadership and staff
