Electronics Assembler (Cable & Wire Harness Assembly)

This role focuses on building complex wire cables and assemblies to meet customer order requirements. You follow detailed work instructions to assemble cables and copper wire, perform crimping and stripping operations, and apply tubing and contacts to create high-quality, tested wire harnesses for electronic applications.

• Assemble complex wire cables and harnesses according to detailed work instructions and production aids.
• Lay out formal harnesses with multiple connectors, cut wires to specified lengths, and prepare them for termination.
• Crimp inserts and attach pins and contacts to single wires and multi-conductor cables using appropriate hand tools and equipment.
• Strip wire insulation using wire cutters, hand tools, and semi-automatic stripping machines.
• Apply various types of tubing, shrink sleeves, and other protective materials along the length of cables as specified.
• Operate heat guns and preset equipment (including foot-pedal controls) to shrink sleeves to the correct fit and finish.
• Use form boards and production aids with visual work instructions to route wires and build harnesses accurately.
• Perform functional testing of harnesses using probes and test equipment to verify correct wire connections and terminations.
• Interpret testing feedback to confirm that each wire is terminated in the correct connector position and make adjustments as needed.
• Handle solder sleeves where required, ensuring proper application without the use of a soldering iron.
• Work with small hand tools such as crimpers, wire strippers, and measuring devices to complete precise assembly tasks.
• Follow blueprints, schematics, and assembly documentation to ensure products meet quality and production standards.
• Inspect work visually and with microscopes or magnification tools as needed to confirm quality and consistency.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to all safety and quality procedures within the electronics manufacturing environment.
• Collaborate with production team members to meet daily output goals and support continuous improvement in assembly processes.

• Minimum of 1 year of electronics assembly experience, preferably in cable or wire harness assembly.
• Hands-on experience with electronic assembly and electrical assembly processes.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and detailed work instructions.
• Proficiency in using small hand tools such as wire cutters, crimpers, wire strippers, and basic measuring tools.
• Familiarity with harness assembly and wire harness assembly in a production environment.
• Comfort working with wiring, wire assemblies, and circuit board-related components.
• Basic understanding of production workflows and quality standards in electronics manufacturing.
• Ability to perform repetitive, detail-oriented tasks with high accuracy and consistency.
• Strong attention to detail when routing wires, terminating contacts, and verifying connections with test equipment.

• IPC-620 certification preferred, demonstrating knowledge of cable and wire harness assembly standards.
• Soldering experience is a plus, including working with solder sleeves and basic soldering concepts.
• Experience with IPC 620 standards and best practices in electronics and electrical assembly.
• Exposure to using microscopes or magnification tools for inspection of small electronic components.
• Familiarity with tools such as micrometers and other precision measuring devices used in production.
• Experience working with circuit boards, wiring, and electronic components in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to interpret and work from schematic diagrams and technical documentation.
• Comfort working with semi-automatic stripping machines and other production equipment.
• Willingness to learn and expand skills in electronics assembly, testing, and quality control.

The typical shift starts at 5:00 or 6:00 a.m., consists of 10-hour days from Monday through Thursday, with additional work on Fridays as needed to support production demands.
