Clinical Nurse (RN) – Minimally Invasive PCU/IMU
Full‑time days & nights available. Experienced RNs and new graduate nurses welcome. Sign‑on bonus eligible up to $15,000.
Join our fast‑paced 28‑bed Minimally Invasive Progressive Care Unit (PCU), caring for post‑operative and intermediate care patients. As a designated Bariatric Center of Excellence, we provide specialized care for patients recovering from bariatric surgery, hernia repairs, mastectomies, and other minimally invasive procedures.
What You’ll Experience- Progressive Care/Intermediate Care (PCU/IMU) level patients
- Frequent assessments and close monitoring
- Post‑operative patients with stays ranging from 1–5 days
- Tracheostomy patients from across the North Campus
- Occasional medical overflow patients
- Strong leadership support with dedicated PCT coverage & RN Mentor
- Collaborative team environment with opportunities to grow your skills in surgical and progressive care nursing

Staff consists of full‑time academic faculty and community physicians of Washington University School of Medicine, supported by a house staff of residents, interns, fellows and other medical professionals. We are recognized as a Bariatric Center of Excellence, and the 4900 General Surgery service cares for a wide variety of patients, making the floor dynamic for developing nursing skillsets.
Preferred QualificationsProvides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care.
Responsibilities- Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
- Educate patients and families on illness or injury management, post‑treatment home care needs, and medication administration.
- Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Engage in professional development.
- Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and patient/family/caregiver, following established guidelines.
- Proactively plan and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs per standards of care.
- Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
- Maintain constant alertness and safety, as this is a safety‑sensitive position.
