This position is in the Developmental Disabilities (DD) Services Division of the Department of County Human Services. This position serves as the first contact for individuals interested in applying for DD services and supports the Intake Social Workers.
Responsibilities- Answer all calls that come into the Intake Unit and evaluate the need for assigning to a Social Worker. Answer all information and referral calls and send information, if requested. Obtain all necessary information for new referrals.
- Complete data entry into infobase and Access and query reports; attend weekly eligibility review team meetings, document outcomes of each decision and update appropriate databases.
- Create intake referral packets and files. Meet with or interview walk-in applicants or family members; determine if enough information is received to assign to a Social Worker.
- Make follow-up calls as needed to process intakes; make calls to physicians, hospitals, or clinics for records requests; make calls to school districts, parent, guardians, DHS Child Welfare, vocational rehabilitation, and the social security administration regarding records requests; review records received and disburse appropriately to social workers.
- Maintain and update all form letters as needed; draft new letters as required; perform forms management and updating.
This position requires equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and three years of specialized, increasingly responsible clerical experience in social services or business services/operations. Knowledge of Paradox databases is desirable. The successful candidate will have at least intermediate skills using Access databases.
Successful candidates must pass a thorough background check per Oregon Revised Statutes. Oregon Revised Statutes 181.536 – 181.537 require applicants being considered for positions that provide care, treatment, education, training, instruction, supervision, placement services, recreation or support to children, the elderly or persons with mental or developmental disabilities to submit background information for the purpose of completing a criminal history record check.
