BASIC FUNCTION/
PURPOSE:
The EL Coordinator will work with the EL teachers and aides to deliver the district's program for teaching English to students acquiring the English language in the context of the K-12 academic curriculum.

The employee performing the duties of this position is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach. The employee may be occasionally required to manually lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to interact with staff and meet the demands of several different people. The employee is responsible for the work output of others.
The employee occasionally works extended hours. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with and supervises the district EL Data Clerk/District Translators
- Collaborates with building principals to support EL teachers
- Help assist or complete interviews for EL Teacher and EL Instructional Assistants
- Provide staff development for EL teachers (monthly) and EL Instructional Assistants (2-2 half days per year).
- Provide staff development opportunities for district administrators and classroom teachers.
- Meet with principal and EL teams in each building at least once a year to address needs and plan for the future.
- Participate in Ad Council and Teaching and Learning Teams
- Serve as a resource to MTSS teams when EL students are referred to them.
- Monitor the progress of current EL students and those who have been exited from the EL program.
- Compile information on the EL program as required by the state.
- Facilitate KELPA and WIDA testing.
- Coordinate the translation of district level documents.
- Recruit classroom teachers to become EL endorsed.
- Work with teachers and principals to ensure that EL students are appropriately placed.
- Make sure that potential EL students are screened and placed in accordance with the law.
- Coordinate sections of the summer school program that target EL students.
- Provide a "Yearly Report" to the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning
- Facilitate Seal of Biliteracy Testing
- Oversee Migrant Student Population within the district
- Other duties as assigned

Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

Job performance will be evaluated a minimum of 1 time per year.
