Permanent Substitute Teacher (KS Certified Teacher)

Job Description

Qualifications: Current Kansas Teaching Certificate

Reports To: Building Principals

Supervises: Students

Basic Function / Purpose

To serve as a permanent substitute for the district, providing instruction in the absence of the assigned teacher for a single day or for long term absences.

The employee may be required to walk, sit, talk, hear, bend, stoop, and reach, occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds, interact with staff, and perform extended hours.

Vision abilities include close, distance, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Work in conjunction with the classroom instruction plan to deliver daily instruction and student supervision.
  • Conduct a program of study based on the district’s curriculum that enables students to reach their maximum potential for success.
  • Support and enforce all school rules and regulations.
  • Maintain proper and adequate control of pupils.
  • Report to the building administrator all serious or willful acts of misconduct by pupils and other individuals.
  • Maintain a classroom free from profane language or physical violence.
  • Follow prepared lesson plans and keep attendance records as required.
  • Follow the district’s curriculum as set forth in the district’s curriculum guides.
  • Participate in professional growth activities and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building and district administrator.

Term of Employment: Teacher Contract (Full-Time) Jan-May 2026

Salary Range: Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule.

Evaluation Frequency: Job performance will be conducted as outlined in the district teacher appraisal system.
