The Special Education teacher provides leads the creation and implementation of a specialized designed instructional program that increases opportunities for students receiving Special Education services in the least restrictive environment.

Physical requirements include frequently walking, sitting, talking, hearing, bending, stooping, and reaching. The employee may occasionally lift, move, or carry up to 50 pounds. The employee is responsible for the work output of others and occasionally works extended hours.

Critical skills include regular attendance, cooperative work, timely responses, meeting deadlines, computer use, confidentiality, and maintaining licensure.

Essential functions include planning and preparation based on students' Individual Education Plans, creating a classroom environment of respect and rapport, instruction based on students' Individual Education Plans, and professional responsibilities.

Performance responsibilities include supporting the philosophy and vision of exceptional services, attending student intervention team meetings, monitoring referrals, reviewing IEP and evaluation files, submitting required documentation, entering accurate data, utilizing data to guide student IEPs, managing learning programs, supervising paraprofessionals, integrating exceptional students into the general education program, communicating clearly, planning transition services, respecting confidentiality, participating in evaluation processes, assisting general education teachers, demonstrating effective teaching practices, establishing mentoring relationships, intervening in discipline problems, collaborating with mental health personnel, maintaining knowledge of student dynamics, maintaining knowledge of assessment techniques, overseeing evaluative data, keeping informed of new technologies, upholding Board policies, and enforcing administrative procedures.

Term of employment:
Teacher contract + BSC stipend. Salary range:
Determined by placement on teacher salary schedule. Additional days beyond the contract year will be compensated according to the negotiated agreement. Job performance will be evaluated in accordance with state regulations and the terms established in the negotiated agreement.
