What Will You Do

Under general direction, you act as the on‑site project leader to plan, execute, and complete control systems projects with assigned customers. You perform or delegate tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout. You are responsible for the overall financial results of assigned projects including costs, project billings, and collections, while maintaining an effective balance between customer satisfaction and project financial results.

You actively pursue selling change orders, coordinate communication with the customer during all phases of the project, ensure proper execution of warranty, provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administration, and ensure compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements and safety standards.

How Will You Do It
  • Complete typical installation hardware design and software programming using established standards as required. Provide detailed information to communicate design and operation to customers, Johnson Controls staff, and subcontractors.
  • Actively pursue additional work through change orders, evaluate the contractual scope of work and the impact of client‑issued bulletins, field directives, and/or scheduling changes, and communicate both technical and business‑related issues with the clients.
  • Manage the selection, ordering, budget, and delivery schedule of materials for the projects assigned.
  • Secure pricing and availability from outside vendors and suppliers, mechanical and electrical subcontractors, including scope, terms, and conditions; may request several bids in the pricing process. Oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes.
  • Provide job‑site coordination for panel and field device physical locations, ensuring installation complies with Johnson Controls literature and project requirements.
  • Manage and complete the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers. Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation.
  • Manage costs, billings, and collections. Complete project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client. Maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow. Schedule monthly project cost in the cost accounting system. Ensure project cost is on schedule.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to system technicians, electrical installers, and system designers. Provide technical assistance to subcontractors. Ensure that delegated tasks are done accurately, on time, billed, within budget, and within the scope of the contract.
  • Effectively communicate the status of projects to management as required and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin.
  • Send warranty letter to the customer upon substantial completion of the project and ensure proper execution of warranty.
  • Develop project plans and coordinate the required resources to ensure timely and cost‑effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
  • Perform site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total system in full or with assistance. Ensure owner/operator is trained and provide proper documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Develop and maintain viable long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Attend job progress meetings as required.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain a high degree of regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Required
  • Minimum of a technical Associate’s Degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent related field experience in the HVAC industry.
  • Relevant technical hands‑on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC controls systems.
  • Ability to communicate technical material to a non‑technical audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work independently.
Preferred
  • Strong personal computer skills.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.
  • Knowledge of project accounting, costing principals, and contracting.
Salary and Bonus

Hiring salary range: $76,100–$104,600 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). This role offers a competitive bonus plan that takes into account individual, group, and corporate performance. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
