Citizen Support Liaison

Under direction of the Community Development Director, the Citizen Support Liaison is to foster relationships and build trust between the City of Junction City and the community by ensuring that the City is responsive to the needs and concerns of the citizens, businesses, and the organizations and agencies of Junction City. This position will work collaboratively with other City departments to ensure concerns are addressed.

Essential Functions

  • Builds and maintains working relationships with community members and organizations to ensure that the City is responsive to the needs and concerns of the community.
  • Serves as a point of contact for community members who have questions, concerns, or service requests related to the City of Junction City and the City's activities. Provides resources to community members or directs to the appropriate City department as needed.
  • Attends community meetings, neighborhood gatherings, business and cultural events to represent the City of Junction City to gather community input.
  • Acts as a liaison between the City of Junction City and community groups, such as schools, county government, and other community-based organizations for purposes of gathering information.
  • Identifies community issues, and communicates with other City departments to develop strategies and solutions that align with the community's values and goals
  • Coordinates with City staff to resolve community service issues and ensure timely responses to community inquiries.
  • Conducts outreach to underserved and hard-to-reach populations about available community programs and services.

Examples of Duties

  • Tracks community concerns, analyzes data, and prepares reports to share with City leadership.
  • Performs other duties and special projects assigned by leadership.

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, communications, community development, or other closely related fields.
  • Four (4) years of experience in community outreach.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered as meeting the minimum qualifications of the position.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Junction City community and its culture, history and issues.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Experience working with diverse communities and groups.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify and address community issues and develop solutions that align with the community's values and goals.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects at once.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically, with the ability to develop and implement community engagement programs.
  • Knowledge of community development principles, practices and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with relevant software, such as Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professionalism, integrity, and commitment to the community.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with frequent use of computers, telephone, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to read documents and analyze data.
  • Ability to sit or remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or otherwise move throughout City facilities and project sites as needed.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to twenty (20) pounds.
  • Ability to travel to various locations within the City and surrounding regions for meetings, site visits, and events.
