Production Associate 1st Shift

Job Summary

As a General Production team member at Smithfield Foods, you’ll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality food by performing essential production tasks and supporting your coworkers. Your reliability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic will help us meet our standards for safety, quality, and teamwork every day.

General Production employees will work with hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products for consumers. They are required to work their scheduled shift, may work overtime depending on production demands, and will support a positive work environment, maintain a safe and efficient production line, and ensure products reach families across America.

• At least 18 years of age.
• Willing and able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Perform tasks requiring continuous/repetitive movement, including grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
• Stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift.
• Work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Use a knife if trained.
• Work in cold areas (approximately 20‑40 degrees) and/or warm areas (over 100 degrees).
• Work in a wet, humid, and noisy environment while wearing required PPE.
• Handle sanitation/cleaning chemicals safely.
• Climb or move on ladders, steps, walkways, and platforms.
• Bend, stoop, twist, and walk long distances repetitively during a shift.
• Might require certification to operate specific equipment.

• Perform continuous or repetitive movement, grasping, pinching, flexing, and extending arms.
• Stand on concrete or platforms for up to a 12‑hour shift.
• Work around animal blood or carcass parts.
• Use knives (if trained) and work in various temperature environments.
• Work in wet, humid, or noisy environments while wearing hard hats, eye/hearing protection, and steel‑toed shoes.
• Operate sanitation chemicals.
• Climb, step, and lift overhead repeatedly (up to 30 lbs, with some lifts up to 60 lbs).
• May require mechanical assistance for heavy lifts.
