Where you will be working:
This position is in our main office in Juneau on the 9th floor of the State Office Building. Our office has up-to-date furnishings and is centrally located in downtown Juneau with a stunning unobstructed view of the Gastineau Channel. What you will be doing:
This position provides financial management support to the fiscal and division administrative staff in the department and is the primary contact for Travel within the Department. The Accounting Technician 2 will be responsible for maintaining the purchase card accounts, reconciling outstanding transactions, unused ticket handling, and serving as the department liaison contact with Department of Administration Shared Services of Alaska (SSOA).
They will certify a variety of financial transactions, research and review accounts and ledgers, prepare accounting reports, and ensure compliance with the Alaska statutes, Alaska Administrative Code, Alaska Administrative Manual, the Accounting Procedures Manual, department policies and procedures, and union bargaining unit agreements applicable to specific financial transactions or series of transactions.
Who we are looking for:
Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (for example, double entry accounting, accrual accounting), including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of worksheets, financial statements, ledgers, and journals.
