Position: Tax Auditor 3 (PCN 084041)

Job Description

As an auditor, you will be responsible for ensuring the insurance industry is in compliance with tax state laws and regulations.

Only State of Alaska employees may apply.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Revenue Management:
    Ensure the accuracy and timely remittance of over $72 million in insurance premium taxes and fees.
  • Compliance Management:
    Conduct a minimum of three formal audits a year and review over 1,200 tax reports for accuracy.
  • Supervisory:
    Manage staff responsible for processing incoming revenue and reviewing licensee financial reports.
Qualifications
  • Auditing:
    Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures for conducting financial and compliance, economy and efficiency, and program audits.
  • Compliance:
    Knowledge of procedures for assessing, evaluating, and monitoring programs or projects for compliance with State and federal laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Principles of Accounting:
    Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, standards, and practices (e.g., double entry accounting, accrual accounting) and the full accounting cycle.
  • Tax Law:
    Knowledge of accounting and tax law for individuals, sole proprietor ships, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Technical Competence:
    Ability to apply technical knowledge to perform job duties and advise others on technical issues.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Any combination of education and/or experience that provides competencies in auditing, compliance, principles of accounting, tax law, and technical competence.
