Administrative Officer 1 – Juneau, AK
The Division of Administrative Services is recruiting an Administrative Officer 1 to support the Administrative Services Director, the Commissioner’s Office, and the rest of the department. The position supports 39 staff members and manages a $5.9 million annual budget.
Responsibilities- Manage the internal budget, accounting, procurement, and personnel work of the Division of Administrative Services and the Commissioner’s Office.
- Provide guidance and leadership on departmental processes and policies to staff throughout the department.
- Support staff in the use of technology, financial systems, and procurement processes.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
- Act as a primary contact for other department divisions and agencies on policy and procedural matters.
- Assist with the development of operational plans and reports.
- Education and/or experience that demonstrates competence in administration and management, financial management, and procurement.
- Experience in budgeting and financial operations, including monitoring and reporting on a multi-million dollar budget.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving abilities, capable of adjusting priorities in a changing environment.
- Self‑management skills: initiative, organization, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Customer‑service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of human resources functions including hiring, classification, benefits, labor relations, and employment regulations.

This position is located in the main offices in Juneau on the 9th floor of the State Office Building. The office has recently been updated and is centrally located in downtown Juneau with an unobstructed view of the Gastineau Channel. Telework options are available after an initial training period.
