The College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS) at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) is seeking a Facilities & Administrative Coordinator for the Lena Point Facility in Juneau, Alaska. This position plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Juneau Center by overseeing administrative, purchasing, property, facilities, and safety functions. Responsibilities include serving as the lead safety officer and hazmat manager, coordinating facility operations and space usage, maintaining property and inventory records, and ensuring compliance to university policies and applicable regulations.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and university partners to support efficient operations and advance the mission of CFOS.
Applicants must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a wide range of administrative and operational responsibilities in a dynamic academic and research environment. They should demonstrate strong judgment and initiative in balancing competing priorities, interpreting policies, and ensuring compliance with university, state, and federal regulations.
The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying issues, solving problems, and improving processes. Experience supporting budgets, grants, procurement, facilities, and safety functions is highly desirable. Knowledge of bank transaction verification, reconciliation, and issue resolution is beneficial. The ability to maintain accounts and data while adhering to fiscal and purchasing policies, rules, and regulations is essential.
Minimum QualificationsThree years college coursework and three years progressively responsible experience related to program specialty or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving Criteria is required.
Position DetailsThis is a UAF position located at the CFOS Lena Point Facility in Juneau. It is a full‑time, exempt staff position with a competitive salary and a full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental, and vision care coverage.
New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79, based on education and experience.
