Overview
Job Title:
Library Assistant 3 (salary range 12). The successful applicant will manage the law library and oversee all public and technical services tasks under the supervision of librarians in Anchorage.
- Perform technical services such as receiving new materials and serial updates, managing items in the integrated library system, processing materials for shelving, and maintaining records.
- Verify invoices and packing slips, scan and submit them for payment approval.
- Monitor the collection, claim missing or delinquent materials, request cataloging, work with law librarians on replacements, withdrawals, and acquisitions, and resolve problems with records, materials, and processes.
- Provide reference assistance to judges, law clerks, attorneys, the general public, and pro se litigants, instructing on the use of print and electronic library materials.
- Assist users researching legislation, regulations, court rules, and local government codes; process interlibrary loan requests; assist patrons with library equipment such as computers, copiers, printers, and microform readers.
- Manage the daily operations of the public and Supreme Court law libraries, enforce policies, set and meet goals, and prepare monthly reports.
- Maintain and service library equipment, perform minor repairs (paper refills, jam clearing, toner replacement).
- Oversee distribution of materials to court staff in Juneau and procure necessary supplies, working independently under the direction of professional staff in Anchorage.
- Participate in staff meetings by telephone.
- Full-time employment (37.5 hours per week) with Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and one-hour lunch break.

A high school diploma or GED certificate AND three years of library or clerical work experience in a progressively responsible capacity (e.g., Library Assistant 2 or Court Case Manager
1). OR an Associate of Arts degree in Library Science AND one year of library or clerical work experience in a progressively responsible capacity. OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in any field.
