Position: Administrative Assistant 2 (PCN 115027)

Job Overview

This position is open to Alaska residents only. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Commercial Fisheries is recruiting an Administrative Assistant 2 located in Douglas, Alaska.

Responsibilities

Administrative Assistant 2 is responsible for day‑to‑day administrative duties within the Southeast Region in Douglas, supporting throughout Southeast Alaska. Key duties include:

  • Providing administrative support in personnel, payroll, recruitment, procurement, and adapting internal processes to meet the division's needs.
  • Managing shifting priorities, constant interruptions, frequent changes in policy and procedures, and collaborating with other administrative staff to ensure tasks are completed.
Required Experience and Qualifications
  • Six months of entry‑level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, or procurement.
  • Or one year of advanced‑level clerical experience.
  • Or one year of post‑secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours).
  • Or one year of any combination of post‑secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced‑level clerical experience (with conversion rates as described).
  • Proficiency with computer software programs to maintain staff information (word processing, spreadsheets, state and departmental systems).
  • Understanding of policies, procedures, bargaining contracts, rules, and instructions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and ability to establish cooperative working relationships.
  • Strong organization, email management, and project tracking.
  • Critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
