About the Position

This Air Permits Program Assistant position is open to Alaska Residents only and will be located in Anchorage, Soldotna, Wasilla, Fairbanks, or Juneau. Salary is determined by location:
Anchorage/Soldotna/Wasilla: $31.54;
Fairbanks: $32.49;
Juneau: $33.12.

Responsibilities
  • Active verbal and written communication in a friendly work environment.
  • Participate in a variety of tasks and occasional repetitive projects supporting a team environment.
  • Support permit writers and management with permit issuance, regulation reviews, and document intake.
  • Assist in public outreach and project management duties.
  • Research and interpret statutes and regulations; audit permit documents for technical accuracy; prepare documents for public notice and conduct document entry.
Qualifications
  • Attention to Detail: thorough and conscientious.
  • Clerical: filing, typing, data entry, record maintenance, shorthand, form completion.
  • Communications and Media: knowledge of producing, communicating, and disseminating information through written, oral, visual, and social media.
  • At least high school graduate; preferred postsecondary education or equivalent experience in research, community development, or related field.
  • Relevant experience with Air Quality Permits, regulatory compliance, or similar.
  • Documents required at interview: writing samples such as letters, memorandums, research papers.

Working Environment

Normal office hours (8:00 am – 4:30 pm). Location may be in Fairbanks, Anchorage, or Juneau, based on applicant preference. The work is technical and science‑based, requiring excellent verbal and written communication skills.
