General Laborer - Haines, AK

Job Summary

• Carries out manual tasks which contribute to the carrying out of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.

• Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces.
• Keep equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Shoves asphalt and other materials.
• Luting/raking asphalt and aggregates.
• Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently.
• Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers.
• Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines.
• Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials.
• Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut‑off saw.
• Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones.
• Seal end joints.
• Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed.
• Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• High School Diploma/GED

• Required to pass a drug screening and PAT (physical abilities test).
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear).
• Frequent exposure to loud noise.
• Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
• Valid Driver's License and excellent driving record.
• Road Construction experience preferred.
• Follow all DOT and company safety regulations.
• Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
