Position: Ticket Agent - Goldbelt Tram Seasonal

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

Summary

Responsible for providing tour and local visitor information and assistance, and ticketing services and sales, to guests at the Tramway. Full–time and part–time positions available.

Location

Job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. All applicants must either live in Juneau or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Pay and Benefits

Seasonal employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program, at its sole discretion. Goldbelt, Inc. hopes that by providing short–term incentive compensation, this will motivate and increase the retention rate among its employees and enhance Goldbelt Inc.’s long–term value. Starting Rate: $15.00 – DOE.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
  • People‑oriented and able to provide superior customer service.
  • Display a positive attitude that is contagious, speaking highly of the company in the presence of customers or other associates.
  • Responsible for a balanced drawer.
  • Use accuracy when ringing up a sale and counting back cash. Use diplomacy when a customer’s credit card is declined.
  • Maintain an excellent customer service level to all incoming and outgoing cruise ship, special group or local passengers; meet and greet all potential tramway guests; provide tram and visitor information; give directions to viewing areas, gift shops, restaurants, other locations; explain the details of the full tramway experience.
  • At the lower terminal, provide ticketing services and sales, explaining the various products or services available for purchase within the aerial tramway, including tramway transportation, tours sold by other companies, theater viewing, restaurant products, etc.; collect and reconcile cash, check, purchase order and credit card payments at end of shift; issue tickets, season passes, vendor and employee badges as necessary.
  • Constantly apply effective practices and techniques of providing excellent customer service to all incoming and outgoing passengers; seek and follow advice provided by the Lead Host or Lead Ticket Agent in improving customer service skills and becoming more familiar with tour and visitor information.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Necessary Skills and Knowledge
  • Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to attend all scheduled meetings, orientations and training sessions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions/directions.
  • Skill in operating personal computer utilizing a variety of computer software.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
Minimum Qualifications (education, Experience, Skills)
  • Six months of cash handling experience.
  • One season of ticket agent or closely related experience involved with tourism, travel, and/or hospitality services.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Qualifications (education, Experience, Skills)
  • Current CPR and first aid certificates.
  • Previous experience working in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service related field.
