Overview
As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. The role provides visitors with breathtaking Alaska scenery, exploration of the trails atop Mount Roberts, and insight into Alaska Native culture.
LocationThis position is based in Juneau, Alaska. Applicants must reside in Juneau or be willing to relocate.
Pay & BenefitsSeasonal employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan. Goldbelt, Inc. may grant discretionary performance bonuses. Starting rate is $16.00 – DOE.
Responsibilities- Ensure that each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
- People‑oriented with superior customer service.
- Display a positive, contagious attitude and speak highly of the company.
- Maintain excellent customer‑service levels. Greet guests, provide tram and visitor information, directions to viewing areas, gift shops, restaurant, and other locations, and explain theatre performance details.
- Provide a personal introduction in native language and translate into English for guests in a 120‑seat theatre.
- Offer a short Tlingit language lesson and synopsis of the film “Seeing Daylight” before screening.
- Operate a projector and related equipment to play the film.
- Use a PA system to encourage guests on the mountain top to view theatre offerings and to promote other tramway venues; advise guests of restaurant closures, gift shop specials, and closing times.
- Apply effective customer‑service practices and techniques. Seek and follow advice from Lead Host, Lead Ticket Agent, or Guest Services Supervisor to improve skills.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required.
- Meet time and attendance requirements.
- Work all shifts, including holidays and weekends.
- Attend all scheduled meetings, orientations, and training sessions.
- Excellent communication and customer‑service skills.
- Learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Operate a personal computer and utilize various software.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees.
- Work directly with the public, providing information and assistance daily.
- Handle stress under pressure.
- Pass knowledge of local history, people, culture, geography, etc. to guests.
- Six (6) months of paid or volunteer customer service experience.
- One (1) season of host or closely related experience in tourism, travel, and/or hospitality.
- Interest in regional culture (Tlingit, Haida, or Tsimshian); participation in classes, dance groups, volunteer organizations.
- Pass a background check.
- Current CPR and first aid certificates; drug testing may be required.
- Previous experience in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer‑service field.
