Location and RelocationJob is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Applicants should live in Juneau or be willing to relocate at their own expense.
Pay and BenefitsSeasonal employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan, designed to motivate and compensate eligible seasonal employees during the term of their assignment. Goldbelt, Inc. may, in certain limited circumstances, grant discretionary performance bonuses outside of this program at its sole discretion. Goldbelt, Inc. hopes to motivate and increase the retention rate among employees via short‑term incentive compensation.
Starting rate: $20.00 – DOE.
Responsibilities- Ensure each customer receives prompt and courteous service.
- People‑oriented and able to provide superior customer service.
- Display a positive attitude that is contagious, speaking highly of the company in the presence of customers or other associates.
- Responsible for a balanced drawer.
- Use accuracy when ringing up a sale and counting back cash money, and use diplomacy when a customer’s credit card is declined.
- Function as the respective supervisor (Ticket Agent or Host) with limited decision‑making authority during operational hours when the manager is not on duty; strive to maintain and/or improve guest and/or ticketing services.
- Assist the Guest Services Supervisor in establishing and nurturing a good working relationship between the tramway, pass holders, vendors, and cruise ship sales staff to secure and increase sales and offer quality services and products to potential tramway guests.
- Act as one of the primary contacts to all guests in the sky bridge to ensure those riding down are properly ticketed. For guests not properly ticketed, sell down tickets with a mobile POS system.
- Oversee efforts to prevent the public from becoming non‑paying riders.
- Give directions to all guests regarding all mountain‑top attractions.
- Responsible for giving theater hosts their respective breaks and/or lunch breaks as needed; familiar with theater operations at the upper terminal, operating the projection and sound system for the theater complex.
- Provide correct tour and local visitor information and assistance to guests at a particular tramway station, ticketing services and sales, and guidance to subordinate hosts or ticket agents, explaining the practices, procedures, and techniques of providing excellent customer service to all incoming and outgoing passengers. Assign tasks; check quality of work performance; and make follow‑up suggestions for improvement.
- Train and supervise subordinate hosts.
- Work in conjunction with Tram Attendant and other tramway staff to ensure the line to ride down the tramway is kept orderly and moving along, checking for wrist stamps, answering guests’ questions, and problem‑solving.
- Use diplomacy to keep the situation from escalating when informing guests of any interruption of tramway operations.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
- Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
- Ability to work all shifts, including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to attend all scheduled meetings, orientations and trainings.
- Ability to handle stress under pressure.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions/directions.
- Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative relationships with other employees.
- Ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance on a daily basis.
- Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to guests areas of interest such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent; AND
- Two seasons of ticket agent or host, customer service, or paraprofessional level experience involved with tourism, travel, and/or hospitality services, including cash‑handling tasks; AND
- Ability to successfully pass a background check.
- Current CPR certification and First Aid training or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Drug testing may be required.
- Previous experience working in the visitor or hospitality industry or other customer service–related field.
- Previous supervisory experience.
