Overview

As the only aerial tramway in Southeast Alaska, guests at the Goldbelt Tram are invited to soar to new heights in scenic adventure aboard Juneau's top attraction. We offer locals and visitors an opportunity to experience breathtaking Alaska scenery, explore the miles of trails atop Mount Roberts, and learn more about Alaska Native culture.

Responsible for performing as an assistant to supervisor, and in a lead capacity by assigning and checking work and providing daily guidance/training to subordinate Hosts and oversees efforts to prevent the public from becoming nonpaying riders.

Part‑time and full‑time schedules are available.

Job is based in beautiful Juneau, Alaska. Applicants must live in Juneau or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Starting Rate: $21.00 – DOE. Seasonal employees are eligible for the Seasonal Employee Layoff Bonus Plan, and discretionary performance bonuses may be awarded at the company’s discretion. Goldbelt Inc. offers short‑term incentive compensation to motivate and retain employees.

Job Duties

• Ensure that each customer receives prompt and courteous service
• Provide superior customer service and maintain a positive attitude that speaks highly of the company
• Act as host supervisor with limited decision‑making authority during operational hours when manager is not on duty; strive to maintain and improve guest services
• Assist the Guest Services Supervisor in establishing and nurturing good working relationships between the tramway and vendors, cruise ship sales staff, to secure and increase sales from potential tramway guests
• Act as primary contact to settle collected vouchers with cruise ship staff, ensuring accurate payment for Goldbelt Tram
• Operate theater projection and sound system at the upper terminal
• Guide guests at the lower terminal, provide correct tour and local visitor information, and support subordinate hosts by explaining best practices, procedures, and techniques for excellent customer service
• Assign tasks, check quality of work performance, and provide follow‑up suggestions for improvement
• Supervise and train subordinate hosts
• Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

• Ability to meet time and attendance requirements
• Availability to work all shifts, including holidays and weekends
• Attendance at all scheduled meetings, orientations, and trainings
• Ability to handle stress under pressure
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to learn, understand, and follow oral and written instructions
• Computer proficiency, using a variety of software
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other employees
• Ability to work directly with the public and provide information and assistance on a daily basis
• Willingness to learn and share local history, culture, and geography with guests

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two (2) seasons of host, customer service, or paraprofessional level experience in tourism, travel, or hospitality services
• Ability to successfully pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, skills)

• Current CPR and first aid certificates
• Drug testing may be required
• Previous experience in visitor or hospitality industry or other customer‑service related field
