Position: Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 2

This position is open to Alaska Residents only. Please check our residency definition to determine if you qualify.

What You Will Be Doing

The Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is recruiting a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative (MVCSR2) to support the DMV public service team. In this fast‑paced role you will examine documentation for required information and validity, issue proper credentials, and administer road examinations for non‑commercial, commercial, and motorcycle licenses. You will also interact directly with the public, explaining policies, statutes, regulations, and providing customer service.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

The role is located at the Juneau DMV, 2760 Sherwood Lane Suite

B. The MVCSR 2 will work a public‑service lobby workstation, rotating weekly between customer processing and administering road exams. Hours are 08:30–17:00 Monday through Friday with occasional overtime.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Self‑Management – Set realistic goals, exhibit initiative, complete assignments timely, work independently, and demonstrate responsibility.
Experience and Education

Six months of experience in licensing, titling, and registering motor vehicles, maintaining driver records, collecting registration taxes, and processing license actions required by traffic laws, financial responsibility, and mandatory insurance laws. This experience may be met through service as a Motor Vehicle Customer Service Representative 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.

OR
Six months of employment experience as a driving instructor teaching safe vehicle operation, including riding with trainees during practice in common traffic situations.

OR
One year of employment experience performing advanced clerical duties with significant public contact, explaining regulations, maintaining computerized records, and handling purchasing, accounting, or cash tasks.

Postsecondary education from an accredited college may substitute for the required experience (three semester hours or four quarter hours equal one month).

Special Note – A background check of criminal justice information will be conducted upon initial employment. Possession of a valid Alaska non‑commercial driver license is required.
