Overview
Our ANSEP Acceleration Academy is a dual enrollment program on the University of Alaska Anchorage campus that supports 9th-12th grade students who are working to earn college credits before they graduate from high school. The Summer Acceleration Academy is a five‑week residential program that brings together high school students from across the state to earn college credits, participate in guided study sessions and extracurricular activities.
ResponsibilitiesThe Summer Dorm Supervisor will ensure students have a positive residential life experience, create a supportive community, manage risk, support students, and supervise behavior. The position requires staff to reside in the dorm throughout the program and be on‑call during scheduled shifts. The Supervisor will respond to incidents, accidents, and potential emergencies, coordinate dorm logistics, and work closely with students, program coordinators, assistants, program managers, and leadership to meet students’ residential needs.
Qualifications- Some college coursework; associate’s degree preferred.
- Three years of experience related to the program or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- CPR/First Aid training.
- Experience working in a camp or student programs, residential programs, or with rural and/or Indigenous Alaska populations.
- Applicant must be 21 years old or older, have a valid Alaska driver’s license with a three‑year record, and be able to lift or move 25 to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Position may require driving an ANSEP vehicle.
- Working knowledge of risk management practice.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to respond in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret and apply policies.
- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships and work as a member of a team.
- Ability to maintain clear, professional boundaries with students.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and decision making.
- Strong conflict resolution and behavior management skills.
This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. It is a full‑time, exempt (salary) temporary staff position. New hires will be placed on the UA Temporary Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 79 based on education and experience.
