The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of AVTEC, is recruiting for a Maritime Instructor located in Seward. No cover letter required.
This position is in the Alaska Vocational Technical Teacher's Unit (AVTECTA).
What You Will Be DoingAlaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC), a Division of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, is recruiting for a Maritime Instructor. This position will develop curriculum for approval by the United States Coast Guard. This position develops training material and maintains equipment used for maritime courses. Additional duties may include advising students with merchant mariner credential applications, simulator operations and outreach activities for rural communities.

As a member of the staff at a division of the State of Alaska, you are employed by the State of Alaska and as such are offered paid leave accrual, retirement and health benefits. The nature of the calendar year at AVTEC provides opportunity to travel to remote locations to bring training to Alaskans. You and your dependents have access to AVTEC recreational facilities and AVTEC tuition waivers are available for your dependents for training.

- Education and Training:
Knowledge of teaching, training, research, making presentations, lecturing, testing, and other instructional methods. - Oral Communication:

Four years of journey‑level trade experience in the applicable field.
