Industrial Electricity Instructor
Department:
Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of AVTEC (Alaska Vocational Technical Center)
Location:
Seward, Alaska
Open to Alaska residents only.
What You Will Be Doing- Plan, develop, and deliver instruction in Industrial Electricity and Building Trades programs as an Industrial Electricity Instructor.
- Learn, maintain, and develop program curriculum.
- Design, build, and maintain industry‑based labs and shop areas.
- Facilitate program advisory board meetings.
- Maintain student training records.

Who We Are Looking For- Education and Training:
Knowledge of teaching, training, making presentations, lecturing, assessing student learning, and mastery of instructional methods. - Oral Communication:
Clear and convincing oral presentations; effective listening and clarification. - Mechanics:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, use, benefits, repair, operation, and maintenance. - Teaching Others:
Ability to help others learn through formal and informal methods, identify training needs, provide constructive feedback, coach tasks, and mentor. - Technical Competence:
Apply knowledge from formal training or on‑the‑job experience, evaluate technical information, and advise others on technical issues.
• Four years of journey‑level trade experience in the applicable field.
• OR
• A bachelor’s degree in the applicable field AND two years of journey‑level trade experience AND two years of professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
• OR
• An industry‑recognized professional certification AND two years of journey‑level trade experience AND two years of professional experience developing, coordinating, and presenting adult training or vocational education programs.
Positions require expertise in a specific vocational field such as culinary arts, business or office technology, applied technology, information technology, maritime operations or safety, medical services, construction, or the trades. The required training or experience is unique to the assigned field of instruction.
