Overview
The UAS Student Housing office is hiring Cleaning Crew student assistants for the 2025‑2026 academic year to provide custodial support for Student Housing residents and Conference Housing guests. Being a Cleaning Crew member is a great way to improve your marketable skills for future employment, such as those pertaining to teamwork, customer service, critical thinking and problem‑solving, and time management. On‑site training will be provided to all Cleaning Crew members and includes equipment and chemical usage training, as well as hazardous materials training.
Pay begins at $14.96/hr.
Clean student housing units and conference areas, perform general custodial duties, and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents and guests. Operate cleaning equipment, use chemicals responsibly, and follow hazardous materials training.

- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work with diverse individuals and handle conflict mediation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and sound judgment in decision‑making.
- Organizational skills to complete tasks efficiently.
- Positive attitude and ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including walking across varied terrain and carrying loads of 25‑50 pounds.
- Evidence of past experience with cleaning or custodial work preferred.
- Preference given to applicants with a minimum of two semesters of community living experience prior to employment.
Applicants must complete all UAS employee required training (including Safety training, Title IX, Protection of minors, Campus Security Authority, and FERPA) within two weeks of hire date.
Eligibility for Student Employment- Be enrolled in the University of Alaska system with a minimum of six credit hours in the current semester of employment; or
- Have been enrolled the preceding semester for six or more credit hours and demonstrate plans to enroll for six or more credit hours in the next semester for employment between semesters.
- Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA, be in good academic standing, or have approval from the MAU Senior Student Services officer or his/her designee.
- Students enrolled in non‑traditional programs of study will be considered eligible for student employment with the approval of the Senior Student Services officer.
- An applicant must provide evidence of enrollment as outlined above to substantiate employment eligibility.
This position is located on the UAS campus in Juneau. It is a part‑time, non‑exempt Student Level 2 position, starting at $14.96/hr.
