Works primarily with students who are in special education and enrolled in an Extended School Year program. Presents material and activities to improve skills in assigned areas, which may include reading, writing, math, computers, and/or vocational education. Works individually or in small groups. Records grades and collects data for other measures of student progress or behavior.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma
- Some prior experience working with school‑age children preferred
- CPR, first aid, and district‑approved behavior management techniques may be required. Knowledge of behavior modification, ability to remain calm under stress, de‑escalate angry or aggressive students, and handle crisis situations.
- Must have either an AA degree, 48 semester hours, or be willing to take and pass the Work Keys Exam.
- File and record keeping
- Personal computers and related software
- Behavior of school‑age children
- Behavior modification, including work with emotionally disturbed students
- Maintain confidentiality
- Provide instructional assistance in assigned areas
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with students, staff, supervisors, and parents
- Operate a personal computer and related software
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff, students, and parents, including understanding cultural, family, and disability issues and adapting techniques as needed
This is a temporary hourly position, working less than 15 hours per week, from May 29 – June 18, 2026, with a starting salary of $26.60 per hour.
Fingerprinting and background checks conducted at the applicant’s expense; fingerprints forwarded to the Alaska State Troopers and the FBI for a records check.
