Summary

UAS is hiring a Term Assistant Professor of Power Technology for a full‑time, 9‑month term beginning January 2026 at the UAS Technical Education Center in Juneau.

Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor students in diesel, marine, and mining systems.
  • Deliver courses such as Diesel Engines, Diesel Fuel Systems, Advanced Hydraulics, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Heavy Duty Power Trains, Heavy Duty Suspension and Alignment, and Preventative Maintenance & Inspection.
  • Conduct classroom and laboratory instruction, advise students, and maintain shop safety standards.
  • Support recruitment efforts and collaborate with local employers to align instruction with industry needs.
  • Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor of Applied Science in Automotive Technology, Power Technology, or closely related field.
  • Minimum five years of professional, journey‑level experience in automotive, diesel, or heavy‑equipment technology.
  • Current, relevant certifications and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong commitment to safety, collaboration, and real‑world learning.
  • Experience training apprentices or mentoring in an educational setting is a plus.
Position Details

Term appointment, 9 months, full‑time. Competitive salary with full employee benefits, retirement options, 12 paid holidays, tuition waivers, and medical, dental, and vision coverage. The position is term‑funded and reviewed annually for renewal.
