- Flexibility to work variable hours typically between 8 AM and 4 PM
- In person only
- $55-$60 per hour
- Must hold Alaska state licensure and Type C certification for teaching deaf/hard of hearing students; applicants with pending licensure will also be considered with proof.
- Proven experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students or in similar educational settings.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Flexibility to work variable hours typically between 8 AM and 4 PM.
Teachers of the Hard of Hearing plan and provide learning experiences for students with disabilities, including cognitive, emotional, or physical disabilities, in a variety of educational settings. These teachers create a flexible program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction; establishes effective rapport with students; may modify general education curriculum to meet students’ needs with supplemental aides, accommodations, and other needed supports;
and establishes good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
- Deliver tailored instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting curriculum to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech therapists, and other support staff to ensure accessibility and inclusion.
- Monitor and assess student progress, maintaining detailed records and communicating with families and educational teams.
- Provide assistive technology support and implement strategies to enhance communication.
- Travel onsite as required across grade levels within the school to support students effectively.
- Work to develop teaching strategies, approaches, specialist materials and resources to support deaf pupils.
