FTE: Various – assignment of no less than 20 consecutive days

This position will promote a learning environment that enables each student to master skills appropriate to age, grade level, and individual capacity. It is a substitute position for certified staff out on medical leave, maternity/paternity leave, or other long‑term vacancies. Contract length varies by assignment but is guaranteed to be no less than 20 consecutive days. The substitute is expected to handle all aspects of the teaching role, including lesson plan generation, classroom management, and participation in site activities.

• Generate lesson plans
• Classroom management
• Participation in site activities

• Valid Alaska teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in education.

• Master's degree in education preferred.
• Experience teaching at grade level appropriate to endorsement.
• Experience or ability to work with instructional technology highly desirable.
• Experience with team teaching, integrated content, and project‑based assessment.
• Experience integrating technology into the classroom.
• Previous experience working on a team in a professional learning community.

Certified teacher salary is based on the JEA Salary Schedule and depends on experience and education. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and the Teachers Retirement System (TRS) plan for assignments that extend beyond the benefit probationary period.
