This vacancy is for a GS - 2101 - 13, Senior Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Deck) located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, NMC MARINER COURSE APPROVALS BRANCH in Location Negotiable After Selection

You will serve as a/an Senior Merchant Mariner Course Evaluator (Deck) and be responsible for serving as the senior maritime subject matter expert for all "Deck" related maritime operations, training and qualifications.

As the subject matter expert the incumbent will review the subject matter content that mariners must be trained in and document competences submitted to the NMC for approval, the incumbent also conducts analytical studies to ensure that the Coast Guard maintains a valid system of approval standards. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include:
Assessing the technical subject matter of maritime course and program curricula Evaluating the compliance of curricula with regulatory requirements Evaluating the technical competence of instructors, Designated Examiners, and Qualified Assessors, and proctors of examinations Incorporating auditing information into the training approval quality feedback loop Providing clear and concise communications with Maritime Training Providers and industry customers Reasonable Accommodation (RA) Requests:
