Position: Engineering Assistant 3 (PCN 252296) Juneau

Overview

The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Southcoast Region Design and Engineering Services section, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 3 in Juneau to help us Keep Alaska Moving.

What you will be doing:
The main responsibility of this position is to produce accurate plans, plats and legal descriptions for the Department, for use in facility engineering design, land title defense, right of way acquisitions, and management. Also, to provide technical right of way engineering and support to other sections and staff.

The Working Environment You Can Expect

This position is located in Juneau. It reports to the DOT&PF Southcoast Region 7-mile office in Juneau, Alaska. The Southcoast Region encompasses Southeast and Southwest Alaska, including the Aleutian Chain. Working at DOT&PF offers a uniquely challenging and rewarding environment with Alaska's diverse terrain and extreme weather conditions. Employees may work in various locations during active construction, including remote locations and urban centers, while addressing transportation needs.

This work requires the ability to read and interpret design plans and specifications, develop engineering solutions and documentation, and maintain safety and environmental responsibility.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an ABET-accredited institution, AND two years of engineering, architectural or land surveying experience (one year at working or intermediate trainee level). Specific experience may include work as an Engineering Assistant 2 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere. OR a bachelor’s degree in engineering from a non-ABET-accredited institution, AND an Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certificate or FE examination verification, AND two years of engineering,…
