Position located statewide in Alaska with telework option. The vacancy may be filled at the Engineer/Architect 1 or 2 level based on applicant qualifications.
Base SalaryEngineer/Architect 1: $3,459.75 – $5,535.75 bi‑weekly (OT ineligible)
Engineer/Architect 2: $3,699.75 – $5,919.75 bi‑weekly (OT ineligible)
ResponsibilitiesEngineer/Architect 1: Under the general direction of the Design Manager or a registered professional engineer, you will serve as Civil Engineer lead for small‑to‑medium‑sized capital improvement projects. Duties include preliminary engineering, field reconnaissance, final design, advertising and leading a multi‑disciplinary team of internal staff and/or consultants through road and airport projects. You will research, develop, and produce project deliverables (plans, specifications, estimates, and other engineering documents), perform independent field reconnaissance, and mentor Engineering Assistants.
Engineer/Architect 2: Under the same overall direction, you will act as Civil Engineer lead for medium‑to‑large‑sized capital improvement projects, performing all duties outlined for the E/A 1 level plus additional responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications- Professional registration as a PE or Architect in the State of Alaska (or a recognized state). Persons not registered in Alaska must become registered within one year of hire and agree to this condition.
- For Engineer/Architect 2: one year of professional experience as an Engineer/Architect 1 or Engineering Associate in Alaska.
- Civil Engineering: Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to plan, design, construct, operate, and maintain highway and airport transportation systems, water and sanitary systems, and other public works systems.
- Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Use a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities.
- Oral and Written Communication: Communicate information effectively, provide clear oral and written presentations, and respond appropriately to audiences.

Working EnvironmentTelework is available; frequent travel in small aircraft for site reviews and inspections is required. Projects may be in remote locations and demand a high level of adaptability.
