Bridge Engineer/Architect 1 (PCN 251442) – Juneau, AK
What You Will Be DoingPerform structural engineering analysis and calculations to develop bridge load ratings, manage bridge tasks, and assess overload permits. Complete bridge safety inspections, including routine, non‑redundant steel tension member (NSTM), low water, and in‑depth inspections. May also be involved in designing bridge construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and reporting.
Our Organization, Mission, and CultureThe DOT&PF Bridge Section provides design services for new bridge and bridge rehabilitation projects, as well as a broad range of services for the state’s 1,000 public highway bridges. We support the department’s mission to Keep Alaska Moving. The section is a production‑oriented office of hands‑on engineers who prioritize safety and are nationally recognized experts in the field. With 25 staff members, the office is small yet diverse in subdisciplines, fostering growth opportunities.

Who We Are Looking For- Structural Engineering knowledge of design and analysis of complex structures using a variety of materials.
- Analytical thinking and problem‑solving using logical, systematic approaches.
- Oral and written communication skills for effectively conveying technical information.
Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect. Positions in this class require professional registration in the respective field. If not registered in Alaska, must be registered in a state recognized by the State Board of Registration and become registered in Alaska within one year of hire.
