Help

You will serve as aInterdisciplinary Environmental Engineer/Scientist and be responsible for the assisting with the effective and efficient execution and management of the Coast Guard's multifaceted environmental program incorporating broad programmatic aspects of environmental planning, environmental compliance, environmental restoration and management of environmental liabilities and environmental sustainability/stewardship in support of Coast Guard operations and missions throughout the CEU AOR and as well as on a national, enterprise-wide basis as workload, resources and program priorities necessitate.

The incumbent will be part of/work with a multidisciplinary workforce comprised of both civilian and military professionals from a variety of fields, including but not limited to, engineers, planners, real property managers, other technicians, financial managers, and support staff executing programs, projects, and activities of regional scope as well as assisting on initiatives of a national scope..

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:
  • Acting as environmental project manager for execution of projects for environmental restoration, compliance, planning and sustainability.
  • Serving as project manager/contracting officer's representative (COR) for remediation/restoration projects and other initiatives to reduce environmental liabilities.
  • Providing environmental program technical support, guidance, and assistance to design team and project execution personnel, asset managers, planners, real property professionals, support staff and other professionals.
  • Reviewing program and project documents such as master plans, studies, configuration standards, and other technical orders.
  • Monitoring developments in/changing environmental laws, regulations, executive orders and Departmental policies to determine Coast Guard requirements for compliance.
  • Assisting with the application of environmental program policy and execution of program goals and objectives as established by Coast Guard headquarters Environmental Program Office and/or higher authority.
  • Developing scopes of work (SOWs) and estimates for project work; ensuring project data/detail is entered and maintained in approved database of record in accordance with established procedures and protocols.
