Materials Lab Coordinator - Engineering Assistant - State of Alaska

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily operations of the materials laboratory, including sample receipt, preparation, and testing.
• Perform standard material tests (e.g., compressive strength, moisture content, gradation) and record accurate results.
• Assist the Quality Assurance Engineer with data validation, trend analysis, and compliance documentation.
• Prepare technical reports, test certificates, and summary sheets for internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, calibrations, and inventory of supplies.
• Support continuous‑improvement initiatives by identifying process efficiencies and recommending best practices.

• Associate’s or higher degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a construction or transportation materials laboratory.
• Proficiency with material testing equipment and strong data analysis skills, especially using Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of state QA/QC procedures and ability to follow detailed technical specifications.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for report preparation and stakeholder interaction.
