Position Overview
THOR Solutions is seeking a motivated Naval Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) C63 Department, based in Virginia Beach, VA. The Underway Replenishment (UNREP) Division is charged with ensuring the successful deployment of advanced UNREP systems and continued sustainment of legacy UNREP systems. The ideal candidate will have strong work ethic, desire to learn, and the ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities- Provide mechanical technician engineering services for installation and maintenance support of the E-STREAM, current UNREP and prototype UNREP systems.
- Review and provide input to new or revised Technical Manuals, Engineering Drawings and other technical documentation.
- Provide input when needed for logistics related issues.
- Assist with inputs to Engineering Change Proposals (ECP).
- Witness and report on factory acceptance testing.
Full time onsite at Dam Neck Naval Base in Virginia Beach, VA.
TravelMust be willing to spend up to a month on travel in various shipyard locations around the Eastern United States or even possibly OCONUS/Overseas locations in Europe.
Physical ActivityPrimarily desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve repetitive motion, periodic visits to waterfront/shipboard environments, traversing shipboard environments such as confined spaces, ladders, hatches, and vision.
Security Clearance EligibilityThis position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred) or be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.
Qualifications- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- At least 3-5 years of demonstrated experience providing Naval Mechanical and similar support, preferably in the U.S. Department of Defense, Navy, or Coast Guard marketplaces.
- Experience gained in a shipyard, as a contractor, or as active‑duty Navy is preferred.
- Experience as a Naval Engineman, Machinist Mate, or Boatswain with UNREP equipment and hydraulics.
- Knowledge of new UNREP systems, shipyard environments, and program management to effectively install new systems such as E-STREAM on multiple platforms, including both back‑fit and forward‑fit installations.
