The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Project Delivery Bridge Section, is looking for an Engineering Assistant 1/2/3 Flex (Drafting / Geo-Spatial Engineer Assistant) to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
Base Salary Information- Engineering Assistant 1: $35.45 / hourly (OT Eligible)
- Engineering Assistant 2: $40.86 / hourly (OT Eligible)
- Engineering Assistant 3: $46.71 / hourly (OT Eligible)
Bridge Drafting and Geo-Spatial Engineering Assistant plays a hands‑on role in the drafting of bridge design projects and processing of information collected during bridge inspections. You will be involved in a variety of tasks, from preparing construction plan sheets to conducting bridge inspections to assisting with the collection and processing of bridge management data. Under the guidance of licensed engineers, you will prepare preliminary bridge layouts and detailed final plans using AutoCAD.
You will also assist with drone and sonar data collection efforts.

The working environment you can expectThis position is located within DOT&PF Headquarters in Juneau, at the DOT&PF 3‑mile building on Channel Drive. The office environment is casual‑professional, team‑oriented, and friendly. Bridge inspection assignments can involve travel to all regions of Alaska. Smaller aircraft, including float planes, are required to reach remote bridge sites.
Juneau is in a temperate rainforest with steep‑sided mountains, glaciers, and deep fjords. Outdoor recreational opportunities are abundant, and hiking, trail running, skiing, and cycling are popular pastimes.
