The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Bridge Design Section seeks an Engineer/Architect 1 to perform structural engineering analysis, bridge load ratings, safety inspections, and design work on Alaska's 1,000 public highway bridges. Based in Juneau with hybrid telework options, this role offers professional development and opportunities to advance to Technical Engineer level while supporting the state's infrastructure mission.
Key qualifications:- Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license required; must be registered in Alaska or a state recognized for comity
- Knowledge of structural engineering principles, design analysis, and complex structures
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills with logical, systematic approach
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Valid Alaska Driver's License and ability to descend/ascend bridge embankments and riverbanks
- Experience with bridge load ratings, safety inspections, or design calculations preferred
