Budget Analyst I/II – City & Borough of Juneau
City & Borough of Juneau’s Finance Department is looking to fill a flexibly staffed Budget Analyst I/II position. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications.
OverviewAs a Budget Analyst you will analyze revenues, expenditures, fund balances, and pending legislation for the City and Borough of Juneau, related political subdivisions, and the Juneau School District. You will convey analytical findings through clear graphs, charts, memos, technical briefs, and narratives to a variety of audiences including the Borough Assembly, the public, the CBJ Leadership Team, and CBJ employees.
You will create budget forms, templates, schedules, and technical guidance; analyze budget submissions and requests based on historical trends, current economic conditions, Assembly direction, available revenue, and fund balance. You will manage technical budget processes, draft ordinances and manage grant activities, prepare supplemental budget legislation and Manager’s Reports, monitor budget‑to‑actual performance, and develop comprehensive budget guides and training materials.
Monday through Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Office located in downtown Juneau at City Hall. A hybrid arrangement may be available once eligibility criteria is met.
Minimum QualificationsBudget Analyst I –
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, or related field.
- OR Two (2) years advanced technical accounting, budget, or financial experience that includes review or analysis of financial information, preparation of budgetary documents, or coordination of annual budget or financial processes.
- OR Four (4) years of any combination of post‑secondary education and financial or administrative experience that includes budgeting, accounting, finance, or related areas.
Budget Analyst II –
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in budget preparation, budget analysis, accounting, or financial management, combined with post‑secondary education.
- OR One (1) year experience as a CBJ Budget Analyst I.
