Overview

The Institutional Retirement Solutions division at Securian Financial Group is searching for a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Consultant to support FP&A functions and accounting for the business unit and reinsured business.

Responsibilities
  • Partners with Vice President – Institutional Retirement Products and CFO – Institutional Retirement Products to conduct analyses to support business planning activities, develop recommendations, and serve as a trusted business partner.
  • Leads accounting, financial reporting, and management reporting setup for new products and product enhancements.
  • Performs and reviews monthly and quarterly financial analysis and management reporting for Institutional Retirement Products and reinsured business.
  • Leads analysis of reinsured business financials, including reconciliations of reinsured accounting, expense analysis and profit & loss.
  • Develops and implements Excel‑based models to project financial results and to analyze components of earnings.
  • Leads resolution of complex issues to ensure financial analysis is accurate and well understood.
  • Participates in the development of annual operating, capital and strategic plans, and independently develops financial projections in alignment with strategies.
  • Provides strategic, data‑driven recommendations to manage the financial strategy of Institutional Retirement Solutions.
  • Manages projects relating to improving procedures and systems to increase department productivity and the level of service provided to internal and external clients.
  • Resolves complex issues that arise from system error reports and ensures processes run successfully once the issue is resolved.
  • Leads projects and/or contributes to broader cross‑functional FP&A projects.
Qualifications
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to meet deadlines, produce accurate work and document processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills to act as a resource/liaison to Institutional Retirement Products leadership team and Corporate FP&A area.
  • In‑depth conceptual and practical knowledge of financial and accounting concepts.
  • Experience solving complex or ambiguous problems and effecting process improvement.
  • Experience building models in Excel or other similar tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Four or more years of experience with corporate accounting and/or expense analysis.
  • Successful track record in a four‑year degree program in Accounting, Finance, or another related field.
  • Experience with SAP or learning multiple ERP systems.
  • Experience with reinsurance accounting.
  • Financial Services accounting and FP&A experience preferred.
Hybrid Work Policy

Securian Financial believes in hybrid work as an integral part of our culture. Associates get the benefit of working both virtually and in our offices. If you’re in a commutable distance (90 minutes) you’ll join us 2‑3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn’t feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.),

an eight‑day per month standard is an option.

Job Requirements
  • Ability to utilize the keyboard, computer and/or mouse for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to utilize the phone and/or virtual meeting platform for 1‑4 hours per day.
Compensation

The estimated base pay range for this job is: $69,500.00 – $. Pay may vary depending on job‑related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
